This committee is soon to be formed with representation from diverse membership from across campus.
The Accessibility Committee is centrally funded and works on improving overall movement throughout the campus built environment.
Examples of updates that have already been implemented are:
- Each academic building now has a power door operator and locking door mechanisms.
- GYM 013W, CCS 202W, SCI 116W, UNC 225W, EME 1154W, ASC 121W, FIP 117W, ADM 111W, RHS 108W, ART 111W, COM 108W, LIB 117W, & UCH (coming soon).
- Drop down curb
- Continuous stair railing on the staircase between the Campus Administration building and Library buildings
The Rick Hansen Foundation recently awarded UBC Okanagan with approximately $60K in grants to complete accessibility upgrades on campus.
