Who We Are
Roger Bizzotto, Associate Director of Facilities Management at UBC’s Okanagan campus, has been with OUC/UBC since 1994. Roger originally hails from Windsor, Ontario, but was raised in Vancouver until he moved out to the Okanagan in 1994. He has his Bomi International certification in Facilities Management Administration, and Trades Qualifications in Power Engineering, Pipefitting, Gasfitting and Plumbing and has a Masters in Management with UBC. Roger also plays electric guitar with his garage band on Friday nights. He is not one to shy away from a challenge, and enjoys the diversity in his duties, resolving the challenges his role presents, and most of all, the people.
Marty Gibb is our Manager of Engineering & Utility Services, whose areas of responsibility include supervising the Facilities Engineers, Electricians, and Fire, Life & Safety Technician, as well as overseeing numerous renovations on campus. Marty has his Trade Qualification as an Electrician, as well as his 3rd Class Power Engineering, and is dedicated to ongoing professional development, most recently achieving a Certificate of Building Commissioning Professional through the Association of Energy Engineers. Marty is originally from Victoria, and came to the Okanagan from Red Deer where he worked in the petrochemical industry for 8 years. He is known for his humorous stories and enjoys making everyone in the office laugh.
Derek Mahoney, BA, is our Manager of Landscape and Building Services at UBC’s Okanagan campus. Derek is a UBC Graduate with a Bachelor of Arts and was also a member of the varsity soccer team. Derek is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of maintenance and landscape services for the UBC Okanagan Campus. He provides leadership, coordination, oversight, direction, and supervision for our five Support Services Assistants and three Central Receiving and Mail Services staff, in addition to contract landscape service providers. In his free time, Derek enjoys cycling, golfing and, most of all, chasing his two daughters around local parks.
Facilities Service Workers
