Who We Are
Roger Bizzotto, Associate Director of Facilities Management at UBC’s Okanagan campus, has been with OUC/UBC since 1994. Roger originally hails from Windsor, Ontario, but was raised in Vancouver until he moved out to the Okanagan in 1994. He has his Bomi International certification in Facilities Management Administration, and Trades Qualifications in Power Engineering, Pipefitting, Gasfitting and Plumbing. As our multi-talented leader, Roger also plays a bit of electric guitar and enjoys jamming with his garage band on Friday nights. Roger isn’t one to shy away from a challenge, and enjoys the diversity in his duties, resolving the challenges his role presents, and most of all the people.
Marty Gibb is our Manager of Engineering & Utility Services, whose areas of responsibility include supervising the Facilities Engineers, Electricians, and Fire, Life & Safety Technician, as well as overseeing numerous renovations on campus. Marty has his Trade Qualification as an Electrician, as well as his 3rd Class Power Engineering, and is dedicated to ongoing professional development, most recently attending a course in Managing at UBC’s Okanagan campus. Marty is originally from Victoria, and came to the Okanagan from Red Deer where he worked in the petrochemical industry for 8 years. Marty is known as the teller of humorous stories at the office who loves to laugh, undoubtedly why his favourite reason for working at UBC is the people.
Colin Richardson, our Energy Systems Manager, is one of our UK imports, hailing from Leeds, England. Colin is our Geothermal expert on campus. With a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as well as over 20 years experience in industrial instrumentation and controls, Colin is well-suited to pioneer the Geothermal project at UBC’s Okanagan campus. He particularly enjoys the diversity of challenges and the routines involved with his role, and is happy about the range of people that he has been able to meet through his position and with being active around the entire campus.
Derek Mahoney, BA, is our Manager of Landscape and Contract Services at UBC’s Okanagan campus and is the most recent addition to the Facilities Management team. Derek is a UBC Graduate with a Bachelor of Arts and was also a member of the varsity soccer team. Derek is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of maintenance and landscape services for the UBC Okanagan Campus, providing leadership, coordination, oversight, direction, and supervision for our eleven Facilities Services Workers and Support Services Assistants in addition to contract custodial and landscape service providers. In his free time, Derek enjoys cycling, golfing and, most of all, chasing his two-year old daughter around the park.
Steve Casey, Glen McIntyre, Colin Richardson and Terrence Nimegeers
Glen McIntyre is our UBCO Energy specialist. He finds and implements energy saving strategies, particularly those that are supported by FortisBC incentives. Prior to joining the UBCO team, Glen worked as an energy and mechanical design consultant. Glen is a professional engineer and has a M.A.Sc. in mechanical engineering and a B.A.Sc. in engineering physics.
Terrence Nimegeers is our BMS Technician. Terrence hails originally from the edge of the boreal forest in the far reaches of Saskatchewan. As a graduate of Mechanical Engineering Technology at Saskatoon’s SIAST Kelsey campus, Terrence carries 15 years experience in the engineering world, more recently specializing in building control systems. He says UBC Okanagan is a great place to work on a world class campus.
Facilities Service Workers
