Campus-Wide Fire System Upgrade
Facilities Management is excited to announce the completion of a campus-wide fire system communication upgrade. We’ve replaced the existing Siemens system with a leading edge, Chubb Edwards monitoring system. Upgrading to this new system involved replacement of 23 nodes in both residential and academic buildings over a three month period. The upgrade from multi-mode network equipment to single mode network equipment provides us with a more robust system and allows us to communicate over larger distances, which is important for future expansion on campus. We’ve also added an interactive touch screen in the Security office, which allows for easy and clear coordination of information as to what type of fire event has occurred and where it is located. This assists us in directing the fire department to the building event as quickly as possible. Matt Litzenberger, Fire, Life & Safety Electrician, is pictured below with the interactive screen.
