Landscape Maintenance and Groundskeeping

Facilities Management is responsible for administering a service contract for the provision of landscaping services including:

  • Mowing
  • Tree trimming
  • Replacing of trees, shrubs and flowers
  • Weed control
  • Irrigation
  • Landscape construction

Please email any service requests to Derek Mahoney (Manager, Landscape and Building Maintenance) and copy An Archibus work request is not required because landscaping services are provided by United Irrigation & Landscaping.

The long-term goals of Facilities Management include:

  • Reduce water use
  • Reduce maintenance costs
  • Landscape looks good in all four seasons
  • Landscape is cohesive throughout the campus and reflects a sense of place (by colors, textures and, where possible, use of Okanagan natives)
  • Landscape is suited to the environment – non-native plants are adapted to this climate and non-invasive
  • Create a closed loop waste system so all landscape waste is left to create a natural mulch where it falls or is composted (and chipped, as needed) on campus for re-use on campus
